__The classic ROULETTE is not what you think __

Take a guess which game is the oldest casino game? We gonna give you a few hints. It involves colours red, black, green and the number 0… You guessed it right - it’s the good old ROULETTE.

The invention of this game dates back to 1657! Well, for your surprise, the initial intention of roulette machine wasn’t gambling at all. A french scientist aimed to create a machine that turns endlessly. Thanks to the British (and the failed scientific project of the french man), in 1720 the machine was re-purposed and served as a Rolly-Polly game. To make things more interesting some cash got involved. And what do you know? Its 2018 and we are still rolling the dice at the good old roulette.

Italians are the first ones to legalize Casinos back in the middle ages

What gets even more interesting, that gambling was illegal in most of the countries back in those days (at least in the middle aged Europe). First country to legalize it and make it more fun, for us punters was TAM TADAM… Italy! I guess you would think that the brothers of Italian mafia made it happen, but that's not the case. The Italian government (probably worse than mafia) was fed up with illegal gambling and crime, thus they legalized it and TAXED it (that’s one way to earn a lot of bucks).

The casino was called Ridotto (sounds almost like Rissoto), and had 4 floors! 4 floors of fun, gambling, music and dances - now that’s something we AOCB’ers would definitely enjoy. However, back in the date only the classic card games were played and only the richest enjoyed the casino luxury. The fun stopped when the casino was closed as it was believed it did not reflect best values.

Croupiers back then

So how about the croupiers of the Casinos back then? How did their functions changed? We can definitely tell you that in the past to become a croupier was a lot easier, since CASINOS were new in the market. Also, let’s not forget that in the past croupiers kept all their CASH in the pockets, and stood behind the players - that’s hell of a sneaky way to outwin the gamblers. As we see, this has changed and there are a lot more rules and regulations surrounding work of a croupier these days! But we guarantee it’s still a an excellent job - ask our WEB Master Tom, he will tell you all about his wild wild past as a croupier. Or stay tuned, and we will make sure to cover it for you!

Casino popularity from the early days

The reason behind such a MASSIVE Casino popularity is actually very very simple. We humans, (unless there are supernatural creatures out there, gives us a shout!) love to have some fun, socialize, have a drink and a little gamble. Now, think of the first time you played for money - even if it was for pennies or fake coins - the thrill and satisfaction was impeccable! With gambling and casinos it all started at the saloons and bars where people came to socialize. Soon it grew into a trend where more and more people wanted to participate in the game, and fill their pockets with WINNINGS. And then the business men entered the stage, who turned the inscent fun and games into a massive industry that we can enjoy so freely nowadays!
